Anyone is an only child here?
Do you think being an only child is good or bad especially in today's sg? I see quite a few frens with 1 child only... Probably due to cost of living, can't afford more

very misunderstood by outside people... yes more attention but we also have to shoulder more

when young people will always say wah u very lucky then got all the love and 宠坏

tbh i dont see it as pros or cons and really hate it when people say that

if u only child and are good looking, smart, rich. then of course good la. but if not then everything also kena aim

but the thing is, even if u got many siblings but u are good looking and smart u also have everything in life what. and no need to face mockery and crap comments by relatives, neighbours etc

Now mostly my frens a lot no child or only child and few hv two kids

So now kids get to uds more

When I was a kid , most of us r two kids or three kids family ...
So maybe we curious abt only child friends so we might ask how are things for u.. hey we didn't mean it if we sound weird or stupid or wrongly sympathetic or insensitive

For us more ppl more chance to fight n learn how to lose nicely is good training since young .. since my bro come to 争🍚with me

Thanks for sharing. I have siblings and all of them are better than me in many aspects but I have no grivences about it.

I just observed nowadays many couples have only 1 child. Maybe due to cost of living or whatever reasons but I somehow feel the child may be lonely and have to shoulder the responsibility of taking care of the parents alone in future. Also, I feel that many parents simply have 1 child just to have a "complete family", to be answerable to society and their own parents and in-laws that's all

then have to bear with all the shits and comments by people around you, the good bad and the ugly and fake people, people who say nice things in front of u but u know what they say behind when u send ur dad to nursing home

Don't need over care what others r thinking or saying .. it's you living yr life .. not other ppl walking in yr skin nor  yr shoes

understand. it must be tough. esp if family is not well-to-do. must have a very strong support group. but yeah, don't care what they say. you do your part to your best. that's what matters.

being only child is damn jialat.

my grandparents had 5 children, 1 uplorry young, 3 run road overseas because breakdown in relationship. since my grandparents were in their 50s until they uplorry in their 90s, my mum solo look after them.

towards the end of their life, my grandmother had kidney failure, need to go in and out of hospital, dialysis every 2-3 days. my grandfather had dementia. my mum and dad was still working full time and looking after them. end up i also had to chip in to prevent everyone from burning out.

if you only child and not married, it's going to be really really tough.

end up u dont see any will take care of them, only that 1 who feels duty bound or boh bian

otherwise none of them feel close to this parent and just dump them somewhr

my useless father retired at 67 with let say 10k cash and 0 cpf. don wan work yet wan bills paid for him.
