The SDL is a compulsory monthly levy that businesses have to pay on all employees, to support workforce upgrading programmes and to provide training grants. It is administrated by the SkillsFuture Singapore Agency (SSG).

Seems to me your calculating employer  passed the sdl to employee, deduct from employee salary instead.

The levy payable for each employee is at 0.25% of the monthly total wages. The minimum payable is $2 for an employee earning less than $800 a month and the maximum is $11.25 for an employee earning more than $4,500 a month.

Why should employer pay? Isn't it enuff to pay for your work?

Why? Employee pays for your work according to skillset when you come in asking for the salary you think you deserve, not paid for training you to do work.
