I have spotted a fradulent transaction of $1.26 processed yesterday on my debit card.


Immediately called the bank and was told it was a transaction made online.


I requested the card to be cancelled immediately as I did not make any online transactions on that card.

Good habit to check bank account especially when it's tied to a cc/debit card.

and to think i only uses that card for petrol payment and ezlink top up

dunno where my info got compromised, the guy from the bank can still ask me if its really not me who made the purchases, knn kumgong

I tel you one issue. But it's probably just lagging but I can see a potential issue.

let's say you $1015 in your bank account.  You spend $5.  Now you have $1008 in your available balance.

now with internet banking.  You don't have your previous balance in the account, only the current one.  Did you have $1015 originally or $1013?  With a bank book you can always see the previous balance

Asked before and it's more like server need to catch up but I am thinking if one day there is a bug that deducts something small with every transaction but somehow it does not appear in your list of transactions, then how?  It's not like before any withdrawal you commit to memory exactly how much you have and then after the withdrawal you do your sums to make sure it tallies

Now the scammers could be the banks itself when they start charging fee on our deposit. Notice how they started to hv big profit year by year ? No need go hunt for borrowers. Auto revenue from depositors.

Maybe like there is hidden surcharge.  Example is when you have Uob card and you withdraw from ocbc atm

Gonna be tough cos you can only review this one month later by that time you might have forgotten and you still cannot match the account TODAY until the statement comes out one month later

Very troublesome to track impossible. Bank  Every month will send statement to me sometimes don't even check pay liao last time i will every month call to check if got any overseas transaction before paying but difficult to keep up cos it is a pain to call their cs

For me I ll check all merchant I nv see before and anyth above 2x
if too many txn but post covid v less activity I check every line
