Besides being a visitor/tourist , the below are normally  ways to move to Australia to stay.

The following are the pathways:

1. Student. (Temporary Visa)
2. Working Holiday Visa. (Temporary Visa)
3. Skilled Visa. (Temporary or Permanent Visa)
4. Business or investment (Temporary or Permanent)
5. Family (Parent / Spouse ) (Usually Temp but leads to permanent residency)

Will go thru some details about the above pathway, if there are interests.

4. Business  / Investment Visa

Reserved for posting info about business / investment visas.

Business Innovation and Investment (provisional) visa (subclass 188) - we will focus on this
There are 2 streams Business innovation and Investor stream.

Business Innovation and Investment (permanent) visa (subclass 888) - This is a permeant visa. Apply subclass 188 first for the eligilbity to apply this visa

The below visas are for people who had already start their process some time ago, will most likely be not available if chiu are a new applicants (have not held a provisional visa)

Business Owner (subclass 890) Closed to most new applicants.
Investor visa (subclass 891) Closed to most new applicants.
State or Territory Sponsored Business Owner visa (subclass 892) Closed to most new applicants
State or Territory Sponsored Investor visa (subclass 893) Closed to most new applicants

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Business Innovation and Investment (provisional) visa (subclass 188)
Investor Stream
Following are disgested for chiur understanding, if in doubt always check with the cheng hoo's website for latest info.
https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/business-innovation-and-investment-188/investor-stream#Eligibility

  • Submit Expression of Interest
  • Receive invitation to apply
  • Be nominated by state or territory government agency
  • at least 10% ownership in a for profit business OR 2.5m worth of investments
  • Have at least 2.5m of business / personal asset for at least 2 years before chiu apply
  • Must make 2.5m of complying investment when chiu apply for the visa
  • have previous experience in investing
  • get 65 points in points test
  • live in the state that nominated chiu for the first 2 yrs
  • the usual character/ english / health etc requirements

@default from plain reading it just means that if a person is interested in investor visa , he need to have at last $2.5m at least for 2 years before he can be invited to apply.
on application of the visa, he need to make a complying investment of  $2.5m in Australia..

Moi think if chiu have $2.5m chiu can easily satisfy the requirement not $5m. Of coz chiu need to have moar than 2.5m to suvive if the bulk of the $$$ are stuck in investments

Currently best way to move there is going via the 189 visa route. The points cut off score for the visa is only 65.

Can use the calculator here to roughly count how many points you might get.
