one is someone using a lorry to hit a cyclist and one is using the body to hit a car.

Different situation.  I did cheer the lorry driver but someone told me the sentence was justified.

Now, this case is different cos it's using the body to hit the car.  The question now is are there any other cases where maybe a poor cyclist or pedestrian hit a car and ended up jailed instead?  If so then double standards

moi think if gotch hire lawyer will get lesser punishment as laywer can talk for chiu in court. lawyer have training, talk in court know which one can say which one cannot say..

if ownself fight in court may end up make things worse as dun know rule dun know what are the mitigating factors and procedure and irritate judge.

so judge will just give out punishment accordingly. have laywer will usually lesser punishment

Of cos.  You think the lawyer stupid ah.... Now it's for the prosecutor to say "could affect behaviour?  What percentage you give?"  Then of cos cross examine the doctor and then of cos get their own doctor to make judgement.  It's just whether it's worth the expense or not.

Why you think trials can last so long?

I ever had to go for something like this before so I think very carefully before a word comes out of my mouth.

Actually it's not double standard but always the case.  How many times after a rape or murder or something the lawyer will say patient depressed and send to imh for assessment?  But to claim tumour in brain as the cause is unusual

Would at least expect the dpp to challenge the defence lawyer to
Ask the doctor show proof whether any other brain tumor patients got display such behavior anot.

Instead I think they just let it go like that. Or perhaps we dunno what happened cos we don't have access to court transcripts yet.

IMO it's not double standard. Double standard is when two people have EXACTLY same circumstances and defence but one is judged differently or prosecutor behave differently.

Maybe the female lawyer has an unfair advantage but that's it.

The one where I believe there is double standard is the Parti Liyani case.  That one really a lot of people dropped the ball or practiced double standards
