A majority of Singapore residents view measures in the latest annual budget as inadequate to help them cope with rising costs of living, according to a new poll.

Among 1,002 adults surveyed by Singapore-based Milieu Insight, 55% said the budget's nearly S$124 billion ($92.8 billion) in spending that includes shopping vouchers and elder-care subsidies is not enough to cover elevated prices from food to housing. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong delivered the budget on Feb. 18, which forecasts a second year of fiscal surplus.

Only money is real

Arctic

A critic of sg gov wrote that gov should relook at the economic model instead of just giving handout and I wholly agree with that

Handouts is like a bandaid, not much use for long term

No Guessing Game

More vouchers = more rising costs. Businesses see this as an opportunity to mark up prices.
