The crowd was real as moi was there, the huge number of votes for heavy weights JBJ, Francis Seow, Tang Liang Hong ...before blackout was real...... Saw police trying to bring Tang just like the military trying to arrest the MPs in Korea. Many got stunned. Yes.  There is the story of the boxes that arrive late.  That is a controversy that while explained can't convince everyone cos a lot of questions still to be asked

I read about this case and I heard the arguments for both sides and yes, apparently the judgement was correct.  That is why the opposition sometimes shoot themselves in the foot.  But now they are smarter

Do you know the opposition also does it?  I was a polling agent for an Oppo party in 2011 and the candidates also came to visit us.  By right they are not supposed to talk to voters and they don't but their presence is noticed by all.

Probably if LKY is there it would be bigger news than an opposition candidate but hardly more illegal.  Of cos, I was a volunteer for the oppo that's why he came.  If there weren't any Oppo volunteers he would probably be barred from even coming in cos what's his purpose of it?

During cheng san time, the only political party that can safely say it has volunteers 100% in all contested wards was PAP.  So it was a different time then.

Olden days people didn't appreciate having voice 2 as much as us today. But all e while my pa was always saying gov no hv check n balances since I was primary school .. to him .. any monopolised thg is won't do well for long

All cc and rc are having ruling party s mp as their grass root advisor and consultant n head
So for non ruling party candidate to deploy e same residents .. no matter how pa or rc can claim how strongly they non partisan .. only they ownself say ownself believe la.

Blue guys can't even use the rc or the mp office In the wards they won .. even town council which is obviously another supposedly non partisan thing but a municipal / estates facility thing also can become partisan tilted that one group of human can serve ruling party

If u really service e community, why u care who are controlling yr estate ?

By this rule of thumb I can transpolate say if ruling wants to hv statistics / research of whatever topics , they just call minister n minister ask the dept bring the stats within x hours or days.

If a Oppo guy wants the same research to suggest recommend n craft good policy, he might mostly get a "what is the purpose of ur question" from the ministries .. if the head got such attitudes, u think the worker bee hod will give non ruling parties an easier productive reply ?

If no good statistics to level up the competition between ruling vs Oppo , how can Oppo not easily shoot own foot .. when everything and anyth is what is the purpose of ur questions

Partly disagree.  You are right the field is not level.  But I was referring more to opposition shooting themselves in the foot in the court of law

You don't need good statistics.  You realise a lot of times it's the opposition (last time) that whack anyhow.

And actually a lot of stats are publicly available.  You just need to know where to look for them and phrase your point correctly

If you look at Sylvia lim, she always quote news paper articles or what a minister said in parliament in her replies.  Hardly "classified or secret stats".

I doubt the ministers will lie in parliament.  They might not tell every stat out so that is when the opposition needs to grill them.
