I buy dividend shares.  I do think growth shares are good but I have a habit of panic selling
I think 🤔 cos of inflation, long term planning n investment is necessity in e event we want to retire / stop income producing work entirely ...
But shares as any other investment need to jaga e company fundamentals and say 2-4 times a year check in on their financial reports .. I think putting into etf / mf then lesser monitoring but as with anyth worthwhile.. hv to check in 1-2 times a year

Since I don't monitor so I don't know they up or down and hence don't feel any sentiments abt those I place into investment

Quote from: Philipkee on Mar 19, 2024, 08:49 AMDo you dare to buy something that might give you 100% returns a year?  But obviously it's risky and the value of investment might drop so your dividends are to cover that and of cos dividends are never guaranteed

100% returns sound like retail markup

But risk high unless u ownself running e retail biz and knows e ropes of it ..

I thk in investment.. it's ok to earn little or lesser but not so ok to lose more than 20% esp if the pie isn't big to begin with and it's all from own hard earn money

Usu cost
Example
eg 10.00 retail 30.00
Gross profit 20.00
Fixed costs -10.00 per unit
Net profit =10.00 ==100%

Need only a few hundred dollars to get a meaningful monthly dividend (maybe $10 after the withholding tax).

But heard it's really risky but I still nibble into it

So buyer beware.  I am not asking you to buy this.  Just stating this exists.

If it's too too too attractive.. need to check whether u can really withdraw when u need to... Paper profit 99% doesn't mean 99% earning when u withdraw

i dont like piak stocks / etf - IMO its just pure gambling

im very into ppty because even if rental tanks later on, u will always have a roof over ur head and can just rent out 1 room

its like a backup with a backup plan.

I manage to withdraw the dividends.  If you are saying selling, so far no issues but I have not sold the yieldmax or most of dividend shares cos I just withdraw the dividends.  But yea, I have done it
