It's probably dependent on situation or context.

For MY generation, my parents went through the Malayan Emergency and independence.  Bear in mind in 1965, no one knew how Singapore would turn out.  We are looking only in hindsight and commenting on their success but forgetting the risk they took.

For my grandparent's generation, they went through WW2.  Bear in mind that in 1942, no one knew the Japanese would surrender in 1945.  We take it for granted now but that's hindsight

So boomers complain we are strawberries cos we just complain and complain and never do anything about it.  We can say the boomers cause the current situation but the underlying assumption is that they had it easy - which I think is wrong.  They also had it hard.  It's just that we don't see their struggle.

Heck, they might even be thinking it's easier for us.  Shoot some videos and can be a millionaire.  Don't even need to star in any movies.

It only seem easier to succeed these days with advancement of tech. There's Wikipedia, YouTube etc everything can be done online. But at the same time, it is also much more competitive now

Life also in a way become tougher now. Tech helps us but did you realised ppl are working longer now? Practically working 24/7 with the invention of laptops and mobile phones. Did tech ease our workload as predicted?

I heard of the argument that we shouldn't put our children/nex gen thru the same hardships we went thru before. The whole purpose of being parents and life is to improve standard of living. I agree that's true but at the same time being too pampered will breed more strawberries

Recently i saw this thread on the other side. The TS was just airing his grievances as a caregiver for his elderly parent. End up tio bash jialat jialat by the entitled boomers simi provided chiu food and place to stay and wipe chiur pigu when chiu are an infant so chiu should "tank moi nonsense" as moi child because filial piety. Knn these merdeka gen really push caregiving expectations to the next level. Even the pioneer gen parents mostly don't do such a thing.

Sadly to say, some caregivers sure admit themselves into imh or commit suicide if they have no avenue to air their grievances.
