We may use the words we want team players.  Or people easy to work with.  But at the end of the day, we want yes men.

Caveat - the yes men we desire are also competent lah.  Not idiots.  It's just that more competent ones might be more toxic

Straight and to the point.

Cos anyway I learn in life as you climb higher, it's more of who you know than what you know that matters.  Cos the higher the position, the more important it is that you are easy to work with than competence.  I mean cos it's taken for granted that if you can climb up in the first place, there must be some competency already

hmmm i dont want yes men under me. but to many others it is sometimes seen as a weakness. i like feedback and comments  so as to learn or before making a decision, since u may overlook something or may not be the expertise in that area

i also f-ed my bosses a few times but in a nice way of course to avoid direct conflict

but i got staff questioning me with a bit unreasonable request........ like he cannot come office coz he is flying off at night (never take leave)- then got some appointment in early afternoon like 1.30pm.

but he went office in the morning. this guy got the what depression issues

i try not to be forceful this time round since i was also available but when the times call for it i will use more strong language

many other superiors would just guailan

so to me i may be considered weak lor, but i just dont like to go over the top to exercise powers when it doesnt call for it
Only money is real

so to answer ur question - I dont want yes men

but generally everyone wants Yes men esp the higher u climb

so if u tell me all bad decisions like ERP 2.0, simplygo,

foreigners come in HDB screw up all these, esp hdb and foreigners, LHL got nth to do with it, and then we blame MOT, MND, HDB, MOM........ this is total utter rubbish

LHL sets the direction and more than likely always involved esp regarding big decisions like Covid, foreigners, infrastructure

which means LHL wants yes men

But they will give feedback in a nice way and if you decide not to heed them, they will still say yes.  They will not say things like push this way and I resign or demand a vote
