in the first place why not the 6-7 yr sentence? this one is like both sides let each other have 台阶 to walk down

Iswaran gets a way much lower sentence. their purpose also to keep him away from politics (from someone who posted in hwz) and dont air out more dirty laundry that he knows within party

maybe ask him to keep quiet on internal information within PAP like infighting, factions or PAP's plans for elections, long term plans etc

and they also nv post in the news him throwing party for his INDIAN foreigners friends and family and never even investigate into that and how allegations mentioned that he helped them push to get their PR

The powers at play shows even tho defense asked only 6-7 mths, the courts sentenced to 1 yr Just to show people they are doing work but actual fact is charge changed and reduced
