What's wrong with the hawker industry in Singapore today? Before you yip about that $12 plate of nasi padang, consider the facts below.

Please stop it. Stop harassing and bullying the hawkers and the organic and popular culture they gave this country will ya? I brought this up about 6 years ago on the greed and incredible business model of so-called Social Enterprise Hawker Centre (SEHC) – from making hawkers pay customers to return trays, high rentals, forced $3 meals for all and sundry, rich and poor alike, and despite using auto-bots for tray returns, they still charge full rates for manual cleaners. Well, it was discussed in parliament and something was done. Nice, and I thought they cared but today, these SEHC are back with a more forceful and creative approach to milking our hawker culture and the hawkers...

Min must work how many days must open how many hrs
Must give management money for hiring cleaning  services etc
Siao hawker life already so tough still want to implement all these besides the blood sucking leeech of the 'management'
One of then  is fei siong group
Often these are well connected to the whites and are grassroot members
These leech also cause inflation food prices as hawkers no choice but to pass down costs to customers

A porridge stall Moi patronised for at least 30 yrs. She wanted to continue working even though she is in her early 80s as she has regulars but she was upset about when NTUC required her to open certain number of days per week. She said she old liao, no need so much income & not so strong like last time. jus opened as much as she can as she goes early market to buy her fresh ingredients , wash her lettuces & go to her stall to cook. Now Moi lost a good porridge stall.

That's the issue. On one hand preach about hawker culture the other hand do this kind of retarded things.
