When events do not follow their narrative, they cover them up and sweep them under the carpet. Even the school bullying cases, if not for the bully's friend filming and sharing them on social media, would also be covered, and hardly anyone would know.

Not asking them to criticise, diss or outright scold gov but things happened. How can treat it as just another day?

Also, it is not right to be that afraid of gov just because one is working in cs

you are right.

but if u think from the govt or ruling party's perspectives... how can u allow people to speak bad about them esp if u are working for them?

if let's say you work for google, or nestle, it's also frowned upon to talk anything controversial

best is own your own biz.

but example say you start a nasi lemak stall. then ur employee posts something like, fried food is unhealthy. or lousiest nasi lemak stalls in singapore with your stall on it

u also will tulan right

Total silence over something that's outright wrong? I won't badmouth my own dept but will feedback on other dept. In this case, all cs are gov so cannot comment (not badmouth ah) smrt even if they are not from smrt?

The more ppl keep quiet, the worse it will get
Title: Re: Civil servants all keeping quiet
Post by: Imboredtodeath on Sep 26, 2024, 06:27 PM
thats why i feel hor cannot say govt or ruling party is always wrong. must take a neutral perspective before criticizing

example like the covid right, i always use this example. if i were govt, say i am a newly elected opposition, i will also mandate vaccinations for first 2-3 rounds

because if u can potentially save millions from dying now(you dont know all the information since only history can judge), i will force this policy

if people die later, later then say. or even if kena cancer

because bo bian, u got to ensure things go back to normal first.

but for some policies i think is really fucked up, like infrastructure and housing nv fix properly then want from 4.5m to 6m to 10m

actually all these can be explained by human nature. everyone is selfish if we talk about my nasi lemak stall example

i think they allow internal feedback, but it's seen as crossing the line. just like our chain of command in army.

sure they can have this hotline or u can even talk to directors and above. they will hear u out.

but whether they mark u positively or negatively, it really depends liao. it's like asking to to bet on black or red at the casino

It's complicated.  First and foremost there is the don't bite the hand that feeds you and of cos OSA

BUT there is another reason

Cos if CS comment, people might think that this CS got insider info as opposed to just another person jjww.  This can lead to complications

Example
A friend tell you he went to ane and saw the crowd and it's dangerous.  You will just tell others my friend saw this and said this and everyone just nod their heads and f pap

An emergency nurse said he went to the ane and saw the crowd and it's dangerous.  You tell others and people might jump cos it must be super serious if an emergency nurse said it.

See the difference?

If someone just comment on exercise wallaby, it's just a comment.  If a CS comments, people might wonder if he comment based on personal feeling or he knows insider info.  This will make that particular CS life difficult when people keep asking why you think like that don't be shy etc etc

So best to keep quiet

I know it's complicated but it's just sad it has become the way it is now

Also, what OSA? Comment only...not revealing any secrets at all

If someone died in the exercise wallaby, cannot post/ comment "RIP Soldier" meh???

And cs doesn't mean he/she is from that particular cs division

Saying RIP soldier is no issue.  Guess they just have nothing to say on this.  OTOH if they were in the same unit, better not say so much

OSA?  It depends.  If I put RIP soldier and stop there, no issue.  But usually I will end up with more stories and details even if it's based on past experience and then I kenna.  Thing about social media is people usually don't stop at just RIP soldier. They will keep on going and then readers will probe etc

True.  Not same division but sometimes people will think you have insider info cos you know people on CS and maybe you know someone who knows something etc etc especially if same organisation.  Like in the army, maybe you know something about this incident in the airforce in your internal memos that's why you comment like this etc

I know the complications but it's just sad lah the toxic state it is
in now

Sometimes must know your rights and be firm but at the same time not abusive

Not long ago, I picked up a wallet and went to the neighbourhood police post to report it. The self svc kisok/machine is down, there was only 1 counter open and there was 3 pax before me. As I had things to do, I decided not to wait and went off. Happened to bump into 2 policemen returning from their patrol. Told them what happened and insisted that they take over the wallet. Told them I'm rushing for time, not returning anytime soon and they can take done my statement and particulars there and then... And they did. Sometimes just need to push a little

In before lost wallet no need to report police and disrespect police/Cs will get charged
