My aunt story

She has 3 children: 2 boys and 1 girl, all older than me. And one daughter in law. All are working before a situation happened.

One of the sons, I rmb him to be a handsome korkor when I was young, he smiley with eyes shining.
He went Thailand long term stay with his gf, has high blood pressure, uncontrolled. Had brain stroke in Thailand. Thailand don't dare to operate on him scared he die on spot. So he was sent back SG by flight. by the time he reach SG there is irreversible damage.

The first few years he was in full vegetable state with a trachy and feeding tube. The gf run away. From then till now, the other son (eldest bro) and my aunt totally stopped working and focused on taking care of him. Left with daughter and DIL working.

It's been 10 years and my stroke cousin has improved a bit. Can take baby steps, take soft liquid food by mouth, can understand simple things his family telling him and responded yes or not. The brain function reduced to 3 year old.

I admire how much determination the whole family has in taking care of him. My aunt and eldest male cousin still jobless as of now, previously working as cleaner etc. Totally sacrificing their lives to take care of him. No holidays anymore. The whole family don't look gloomy, mentally they looked like they coping well it's good. They seem to be accepting that he is going to be like this till end of life.

Although my aunt not a nice person but I see her family life I felt a bit don't know how to feel if I'm in that situation. One person's life affecting the whole family way of living.

When I was young I rmb seeing my cousin healthy weight. Handsome ah beng type. Face always looked a little flushed dunno isit due to the HBP.

Kena stroke in 30s. All the muscle mass gone due to lack of mobility. Very scary.

The other brother also happy go lucky as always!  I saw him just now passing him some cakes.

It seems to be in their nature to take things easy...
Initial part I believe mentally they also struggled and trying to accept.
