Im helping out my neighbour who has parkinsons

I go his place like maybe 1-3 times per week sometimes to just help him buy food. Then sometimes i cook for him coz u know if u buy ingredients it can serve many people then sometimes i cook for him and also my dad whom i visit at nursing home

then the other time i gave him an electric steamer (to steam food). he asked if i can give to his brother (who wants it) then i said ok and he gave to his able bodied elder brother

i got to know him like maybe 3 yrs ago when i keep seeing him fall down taking like every 3 steps (fall to the ground on his knees)

everytime i tell him why not u buy some food to steam coz u should have kept that steamer.

then i say at least buy some instant noodles or cup noodles.

then he says he want fresh food. i say sometimes ur bro and sis not free and i not free to buy on your behalf, sometimes i also eat instant noodles or other stuff that's easy to cook or those preserved vege/olive vege with porridge when i dont feel well or dont go downstairs... even salted egg also ok once in a while

then he damn fucking particular about fresh food that i also dont dare to give him 1 day old food in the fridge that i eat. i even eat 1 week old food if it's ok and well kept

he nv ask for my help of course and i feel sometimes i dont want to help but i will feel bad

then i bought his PMA/PMD for him coz he really needs it. of course they paid for it la. actually his brother and sis dont want him to buy it's me who kept egging him to buy

before that he was trying to get subsidy from the govt and they refused to let him buy coz he has parkinsons. and they also disallowed people with dementia to buy with subsidy

i buy for him on shopee liao then now he can go down on his own. previously he walk every 3-4 steps will fall down then everyone will rush to help him

i feel the fact they didnt want to buy the PMA and the insistence on fresh food is actually quite selfish to others in some sense

because everytime he falls people at ntuc and on the street will rush forward to help him

then i feel many of such people also fall between the gaps and govt not helping enough

sometimes damn lazy to help coz busy now plus i injured my hand (got say before), almost 1 yr liao  also nv heal i scared nerve damage... do MRI also show nth

nothing rly about good or bad. just that i saw him abt 3 yrs ago. that time dunno is it just went nursing home or soon to go nursing home

but end up still try to help

i mean i got talk to him to pour problems to him and talk cock also la, so cannot say he nv help me

then his bro and sis got thank me but sometimes me also buy my own food la so i shun bian help

his bro CNY gave me $120 angpow, but honestly la, i can tell u all, i didnt want to take. plus the value i provided (i always gave him free food which i cooked, and snacks etc. and even buy things i charge exactly same price or cheaper) is definitely multi-fold the ang pow la

i didnt even want to take because ah, i prefer to give than take. take liao feels like obligated. they nv ask me to go help. he also nv rly call me to help at all. unless absolutely when he needs help. his siblings also visit him twice per week

There is a limit to what you can do. Just gauge accordingly

I sometimes lend a listening ear to my autistic neighbour too. He's in his late 20s, working at a fastfood joint, previously working as barista. He's very friendly, sensible and is even proficient in hokkien. He also know his own condition and ever shared with me how his younger sister is obligated to take care of him after their parents are no longer ard and he feel very bad about it. But other than chatting with him, I don't and can't do much for him also
