Meaning if HR only offered x plus $500 but I told my friend I got x plus $1000 and he really tried to get a job with x plus $1000 and failed.  I will always wonder if I should not have lied

I'm not sure if anyone will do that to sabo their own friend, I didn't lie about the salary. It's only whether should have told her to ask lesser salary (since she asked me for opinion)due to her job history or let her decide.

I didn't lie about the salary and job scope la. Everything is out in the open. She knows all the salary ranges that are mentioned in that job. She knew all the numbers prior to applying for the job, website alr put the max rate.

She knew the price I'm asking for is not normal, she knows the normal range. She knew I'm tapping on the company being desperate, and that it's a little harder to find workers that work in my role.
Actually if she manage to ask the same rate as me. I will be very happy for her. We thought this company is kumgong can just chop their carrot, since I tried and success.

I was lucky. The job posting has been there for months and no one wanted it. Glassdoor 1* all written by staffs that were probably fired.

I was hoping she could join me, she haven't had a reasonably good job in her work life so far.

To be honest in the first place I won't even tell her I'm asking for x + 1k. I will just keep it as the assumption I applied the role w whatever range shown at website.

But I would just at most share w her if get offer can consider to ask for more.

But to me this is a generic advice that I tell anyone including internet stranger when comes to pay. #1 rule is always nego pay. Hr will always have budget to buffer a bit more. And even if nv get higher also no nvm at least u tried.

B is not supposed to be privy to know each other's salary or HR will not take both. Hopefully B does not backstab A. Salary is confidential. B should not even ask for more since B is ok for $+$500 sure won't get at $+$500+$500. While budget is important but exception can be made if finding the right fit.
Tell B up to her/him. Any consequences B will hv to bear not A.
For sure A must quickly go in. Then when kick out FT, hv vacancy, bring B in. Tats how FTs kick experienced sinkie out once they get in.

Good. A stablised first and just follow boss. Religion of peace if sinkies let boss handle and hv sinkies better than FTs. Surely can get B in and then got ally easy to huddle together and work together since both havegood experience in the field.
