There were breakups cos of shift cos weekends and even during festivals they might be working.  So think carefully.  Plus they might be too tired after shift especially night shift.

It can work out.  Just think carefully

I am pro vaccination.  Even for the MRNA vaccination.  But I am uncomfortable with the VDS cos it sets a bad precedent for the future

I encouraged people to get jabbed then even if it's sinopharm or sinovac and I still believe in it.  But the VDS makes me uncomfortable because you are supposed to consent to vaccination and VDS makes it seem that you might be giving the consent under duress.

Quote from: Philipkee on Mar 17, 2024, 08:48 PMNot really hard to get over death.  From student days it was drilled into us not to get emotional over any death cos the next patient still needs us.  It does help that I am a guy.  Females tend to be more emotional.

But there are two kinds of death.

One is patient comes in and dies.  Usually you don't really build a bond with the patient so it's just a job.

The other one is patient comes in well, gets discharged, readmitted, discharged etc each time getting progressive worse.  Cos if it's like cancer, he generally returns to the same ward.  So a bond can be built and when he passes away, there would be a twinge of sadness but that's it.  Have to move on.

But a disclaimer is I have never worked in a pediatric ward beyond student attachment.  I heard death is taken very badly there by the nurses but that's only tiagong

do the dying patients tell 101 stories abt their glorious / historical life ?

Or abt dreams they caught from endless drifting in and out of zz while at ward ?

No.  But once in a while if you have bonded with a patient they will tell to about their life story but these are not dying patients, just bored patients

I want to share regarding this MyResponder app.  For those who are trained in CPR, they are strongly suggested (not compulsory but strongly suggested) to download this app.  The reason is that when a cardiac arrest happens, SCDF will activate this app to trained rescuers who can assist in performing CPR before ambulance arrive.  While the ambulance should arrive within a few minutes, there is still a delay and if there is a trained rescuer let's say just next door or under the block, they can perform high quality cpr while waiting for the ambulance

What is less known is that there is a button to call 995 there.  This means that even untrained people who know nuts about CPR should download the app.

Why?  They can use the app to call 995.  And again, why?  Why use the app to call 995 when you can just dial 995?  Cos from my training, if you use the app to call 995, the GPS location of your phone will be sent to the ops ctr and your location will be pinpointed.

Again, you might ask, what's the benefit?  I know where I am.  But what if you were on the PCN?  On a deserted road where you don't know where you are?  Example will be cycling somewhere in Lim Chu Kang or Pulau Ubin.

So there is this benefit and tiagong Sgsecure has the same function just that it goes to 999.

Charges for SCDF ambulance.  I keep hearing people say there are charges to for scdf ambulance so I asked MOH for information on this

We refer to your emails between 13 November 2022 and 4 March 2023 to the Ministry of Health.

Thank you for allowing us time to look into your feedback.

We wish to clarify that the patient will only be charged if both SCDF and the hospitals classify the case as non-emergency.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Ministry of Health, Singapore

I deleted the name of the person who replied to me though I keep the original email with me

One interesting anecdotal story I have on casinos.

Many years ago, I attended to a case of fire at the casino.  I learned from the paramedics that patient was playing at the casino for 72 hours straight before collapsing into fits.

So I just brushed it off.  Impossible.  Then I met a friend who was a croupier and said why not?  The person just sit there and gamble.  Food and drinks are delivered to the person so he doesn't even need to get up.  So I say how about peeing?  My friend say they either wear diapers or just pee where they sit.  After some hard core people get up and leave, the chairs need to be really clean cos there are menses, pee etc etc on the chair.

I remember thinking.... Wow

horiv3

Was recently warded for couple weeks at SGH, realised that nursing really aren't easy. They got to help bed-ridden patients change diapers regularly, must be able to withstand the smell.
