average lah, abt $2 to $3k for the really not popular ones, especially if stall location is at quiet part of the hawker centre

NEA tender is for 3 yrs, never say when u can terminate, within 3 yrs den forfeit deposit lor

Correct.
Tiny little stall can only display packed food. Not humane for cooking. Yet rental not control. tiagong when $60-$100 per stall, hawker worked half day, sell only carrot cake can feed a family. No need work full day, sell CKT, sell HKM....all pay to NEA & NTUC.

Rly tbh from our gen onwards rly 不用活了. Hdb cost million(s), drive taxi so many rules, rent hawker so ex. Everything so ex. No need live le.

provided they still renting, some actually own the stalls... under lky, hawkers were given the choice to buy and own their stalls

many sublet, some sold... scheme no more liao but still subject to cleaning fees, cant even use disposable utensils and opt out of the fees

yes, rental back then was few hundred bucks only... thats why the hawkers of yesteryears can live comfortably, support kids go uni etc...

depends on what category the stall is designated to sell... some are under cooked food, some only muslim food and some are indian food, if its food den cant sell drinks and cut fruits.. those will specifically be known as drinks stall

anyway they sitting on gold hill lor, even if rent to others, sell to others or just hang on to it zoh boh lan also can

but i dont think they "own" the stall coz he told me pay few hundreds per mth

yes they can, provided its classified under "cooked food" den can change to anything except drinks and cut fruits

old scheme is definitely better, hawkers can make a living while keeping cost low for the masses... nowadays knn rental so high, of cos the cost pass back to consumers
