Title: Learning DIY to save money.
Post by: 老曾记 on Mar 04, 2024, 07:58 AM
There are many ways we can save money through DIY.

DIY takes away the manpower cost, which is a big part of the cost factor, at the same time you may get some sense of self-fulfilment because u are able to complete the mission yourself without paying for the service.

Come in and list what are the DIY you have done, that leads to cost savings!

For me...
-Changing toilet seat
-morning meal prep
-doing DIY facials and microneedling. (Massive cost savings as each basic microneedling session is at least $100, usually range around $300+), I saved on transportation time as well.
-callus removal on my feet, it cost $128 to remove callus in a shop.

My prolonged second toe pain seems to be recovering from my DIY removal of callus.  ;D

see E27 or PL lights... quite simple, problem is sometimes the cover difficult to open

leaking taps could be simple thing like o ring worn or harden, cartridge dislodge or loose

cables and wires abit more tricky cos u need to understand color code and how electric wires are ran

not difficult actually, especially if the model used is the same

electrical abit more tricky as mentioned cos u need to isolate before meddling with it and u wont wanna screw up the wires

Paint my own home
Install the electrical system for my whole house (ECB,cables, cable housing, wires, switches, lights)
All fixtures other than built in cabinets i install myself.
The plumbing i also built myself( water pipe supply, basins, toilet bowls, taps, drainage, everything associated with plumbing)

All i self learnt. I realised buying the tools is a one time investment and yet cheaper than engaging someone to do it.

Good vid on how to unclog pipes. Singapore pipes in video. So it's more relatable.

This means one would have to practise extreme self- denial...material aspects reduced to absolute minimum.  One would have to be extremely abstemious too.

Just managed to install my own CCTV to view corridor.
Spent: $23
No drilling done.

If ask people come do. And add on drilling and do cables, will jack up to $140.
Their services are worth it but since my Mum is not very comfortable with having a CCTV to view the corridor, I ownself set up to test water first.

This part a mah disagree w u

Didi
U didn't know
Ppl who steal bra n p de
Usually r extremely introverted
Don't dare talk w other ppl
Esp e type of girl they like
That s why they cloud their mind with imaginary pictures n visuals to go n steal other ppl stuff to satisfy their imagination 💭

Usu ppl who dare to approach or seek their interests out de
They tend to be better w humanly connections
Means their try rates high , fail rates and success rates also high
They don't need imagination to cope with their fetishes if any

Yes I agree putting it at the most visible possible is effective. You are not wrong.

But my Mum wish is to hide it to capture, she doesn't wan neighbour to mistaken we are checking on them. And it's not particularly hidden. If they approach my doorstep they will still see my camera blinking.

Har no la.
Someone came to my house and play my door handle months ago when my Mum was alone.
And my shoes were stolen. Better install one.

Must install since CCTV now got cheap ones....oso if HSA, MOM, NEA come, can record them rude or not.

Quote from: Isibeihaolian on Dec 02, 2024, 08:31 AMYes I agree putting it at the most visible possible is effective. You are not wrong.

But my Mum wish is to hide it to capture, she doesn't wan neighbour to mistaken we are checking on them. And it's not particularly hidden. If they approach my doorstep they will still see my camera blinking.

I love this CCTV. There is motion sensor. Better than what I thought

1/3'' Progressive Scan CMOS Not Starlight Sensor'
have to use in a well light area.

Your idea is good. But my Mum prefer a low profile. I follow her wish lor. Catching the culprit red handed is possible if camera is hidden well.

@default.

The shower tap needs a sealer tap and wrap until gao gao so that it acts like a thick washer. When u turn it, it will become upright. Facing the same issues like u, the shower tap cannot stay straight until I noticed wrapping sealer tap to make it thick like extra washer. It will form a seal and allow tap stays upright.

I notice this because I checked my old tap how they did it. That is what they do.
