I saw ppl wearing expensive running shoes as casual shoes eg. Nike pegasus go orchard road walk walk. Branded shorts for casual use and jogging. I think those saf $6 shorts are gd enough, won't affect your timing
what price do u consider as "expensive" shoes?
i think under $100 ok. under $150 still ok if u rly like the design and it's comfortable for sports
shorts, the good ones usually better quality esp the pockets, if u put money or stuff in there (what i feel lah, altho my shorts are those $6 like u said also, but sometimes worry if the cc or $ will drop out)

Below $100 ok already. Expensive would be those $200 shoes that ppl use for marathon
You see those Nike or Adidas running shoes no special pocket also but sell for $50! Anyway, can get those jogging shorts with special pockets for cheap online or from decathlon
I dunno where to go find cheaper ones and still look stylo milo when I go out wearing them
