Title: Would you support this hawker?
Post by: Arctic on Jan 09, 2025, 08:50 PM
I haven finish watching the full vid but in the first 5mins she already scold consumers for not supporting hawkers and shared she bid $7k for a stall at holland drive, highest in holland drive history and 2nd highest in bidding history
So ownself bid so high then have to sell high to cover rent yet blame consumers for not supporting?
I rmb when she first started out, all humble and nice lol

One more thing I hate about new hawkers are that they always claim they want to preserve heritage, help parents etc bs
Knn just admit you suck at your job hence have to try something else to make a living lah! Else their parents' stall is most likely to be profitable that's why they are willing to switch to become a hawker
End of the day, it's all about the money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Everyone work for money, just admit it and stop the heritage bs
There are a lot more bs in the whole vid. Can vomit blood

aiya everyone wants the easy way out
obviously shes making lots of money. i bought from her before
shes making more money than she would, if shes working in another job. or at least she is the boss here and making same amt
i think she also damn full of shit la. that time she nv fully take over then shes at amoy and ya humble and nice lor, when her father still at the helm
then they are the amoy hawker chairman or sth
theres nothing to learn from here except that people change and no one is satisfied. if u are her, now making tonnes of money, u sure buay song u have to work so hard one

Nah she self pwn. Miscalculated her finances and the buying power of her customers. Who to blame?
I always try to support locals. There was this ahbang who opened up a nasi padang stall at my place. Tried my best to support him, eat almost every day for a few months lol. even intro to my neighbours. Still toh. Sigh.
He has a young son I think.
Hope he is doing ok now.

Can brame NEA for being greedy & started bidding process instead of fixed price depriving ppl of a decent livelihood & giving rise to price inflation?

This kind of lj local biz I won't support
She can just keep quiet and go on with her atas biz but she has to come out and blast consumers

u know how much their rent for 1st gen hawker boh? few hundred bucks till today, that's why they can afford to have the capital to expand
my friend's ah ma owns a stall at maxwell
so these are also considered as ah xia kia
my friend now his parents retired liao, just collect rent can liao
all these thanks to the fucking govt. do i think they should reset everything? no
but u see all these are small monies that LKY LHL Shan all these dont care about because they already got multiple properties and GCBs
but this lady is still richer than avg
LKY LHL SHAN all these only care when their karchng hurt then they change laws like IYKYK

how is adding rum or syrup to your coffee pulled through a more ex machine and u alr got suppliers through your lao peh hard?
it's in many ways easier than making say WTM or duck rice
use same kopi hoon, measure same then just pull it....... doesnt even require skills
just ensure ur machine doesnt fail

Probably attract younger act smart crowd. Use fancy machines and coffeebeans. I admit I was once a foolish act smart youngster too, go try all the atas food and drinks. Had a collection of alcohol thot I'm a connoisseur . Wah you know fermenting process, the spring water they use, must be special and top notch stuff.
End of the day, it's nothing special. I rather have my hawker food and johnnie walker black label
Even my nephew who had gordon ramsey food at mbs also say it's nothing special, he prefer his kpt chicken rice else tori-q from malls

If I have to travel far, I will support this and even give them extra within my own means.
There is a stall at bedok blk 216, everything only $3 iirc. I only had it once.....ok lah
But there are too many good food in that area so I dun patronise the stall at all

I think many things can learn and perfect one.
Just that some people got a headstart with lao peh teaching them and more importantly that cheap hawker stall.
See she will admit or not, how much shes paying for her amoy st stall.
Without that she can start biz with atas kopi?
If i give u a stall for $300 or $500 i also sure as heck tell u i can make it one.
I make food for my friends and family. While still not the best or near perfection once u can hit that 60% or 70% mark u confirm can make it better.
But should i risk my say 5k job, to pay 5k rent to try my luck?
I think even a retard knows how to count.
She pays maybe 500 or less per mth i pay 5k upwards. How do u think i can make it?
Back to what u said, i think gordon or heston all are great cooks esp heston who experiments w many things. But all these can learn if u got the passion.
Again its $$ before anything la. But if u ask me do i want michelin starred food? Yes, but i also like hawker fare.
What twice distilled water fermentation special blend is indeed nice if u can afford it la. But everyday let u eat also sian.
Btw i dont rly like wagyu that much coz its too fatty.
My point is, not necessary most ex and people say nice then u will feel nice

Actually i went to drink her rum coffee.
Its nice. But i also think i can make it with an exp machine and beans and the right rum.
E.g. myers rum cheap but doesnt taste quite right... to me lah. Just use sailors rum can liao.
I dont think they pour a heck of it also anyway. Maybe a tablespoon lor

Wah you are rum expert ah? I know nuts about rum
Sadly, many ppl always have the impression that more expensive = better Sometimes cheap can be good too. Eg. my phone case is only $2, work as well as those branded $50 phone cases, my screen protector is also $2, ownself paste
