Is a person born evil or can a person turn truly evil?
Can a person turn from generally good to outright evil, 无恶不作, totally self serving and feel its not wrong after things he or she has been through?

Born evil. You dun need to teach a person to be selfish. Just try asking a baby to share his food with you. At the same time, we need to keep teaching and reminding ppl to be kind etc
And yes, can turn from good to evil if one has been thru some serious shit in life

Possible to become truly evil? Not just be more despicable towards certain things like climbing career ladder but do so towards elderly or kids or just ignore them when you clearly have the power to help?

We just like other animal if without religion or moral guiding. 善 itself actually is against survival instinct which required many evil act as many moral principles that we know.
性本善 or 性本惡 are the concept when human started to build up their society, which humanity value come after that. However, it is good that we emphasize on humanity value, and show that we're evolving as human. Otherwise, we're no different from animal.
IMO, human is egoist by nature but neutral in moral value. Evil or Kind are acquired development. to a large extent, it depends on the social atmosphere or how our society developed. do you think we have more good than bad or bad than good If our society corrupted?
