Co T is hiring staffs at a max of $x in their website job notice.
Friend A's role is niche, so max salary offered by Co T is $x + $500 in telegram job posting.
During interview, A asked for $x + 500 + 500 to tap on the opportunity. Co T agreed on the spot. A has worked as a full timer in govt sector for 10-15 years, and covered the niche area quite thoroughly.
Friend B, heard friend A asked for $x + 1000, she also wan to ask for the same salary. But she is independent contractor for more than 10 years, means she is not full timer for more than 10 years. And might not have the niche skillset to ask for $x + 1000
In this case. B asked friend A if the salary she quote sounds ok or not, is it too high for the role. How should friend A answer? If say too high, it might sound like A is undermining B capability. Or just let B copycat quote $x+1000 as she wishes?

A let B ownself quote her own desired pay. Now the HR didn't respond to her for almost one mth. B went on the message HR again, and said salary negotiable, but no response too.
Was thinking in the first place if A told B to lower salary... Would things have changed.

Should tell B go for highest he can but he need to own self do market due diligence
If he don't hv exposure or skillset n knowledge as A , he can ask higher than a only if he has other unique selling proposition as a headcount
Eg he has soft skills they need ?
Eg able to persuade ppl and has led teams before .. teammates all fierce n domineering he gum well with them
Eg his has skills n experience in area X which they need in near future and it will become cost efficient for co to hv have than outsource
It s really up to him and recruiter de
On top of that , it s also budget
Say I alr given budget to a
And my next candidate budget is reduced by x dollar then cannot alr la
Unless my boss help me come m talk again

I'm not sure if anyone will do that to sabo their own friend, I didn't lie about the salary. It's only whether should have told her to ask lesser salary (since she asked me for opinion)due to her job history or let her decide.

She knew the price I'm asking for is not normal, she knows the normal range. She knew I'm tapping on the company being desperate, and that it's a little harder to find workers that work in my role.
Actually if she manage to ask the same rate as me. I will be very happy for her. We thought this company is kumgong can just chop their carrot, since I tried and success.

I was lucky. The job posting has been there for months and no one wanted it. Glassdoor 1* all written by staffs that were probably fired.
I was hoping she could join me, she haven't had a reasonably good job in her work life so far.

To be honest in the first place I won't even tell her I'm asking for x + 1k. I will just keep it as the assumption I applied the role w whatever range shown at website.
But I would just at most share w her if get offer can consider to ask for more.
But to me this is a generic advice that I tell anyone including internet stranger when comes to pay. #1 rule is always nego pay. Hr will always have budget to buffer a bit more. And even if nv get higher also no nvm at least u tried.

You are really a sweet friend always looking out for the people around you. Maybe this why you got it lucky caz of your good karma.
If I get the situation correctly from TS explanation.
A must quickly accept what HR given since $+$500+500. He/she got good experience at govt sector 10-15 yrs. Coy willing to accept & give higher. Mai tu liao.
B is not supposed to be privy to know each other's salary or HR will not take both. Hopefully B does not backstab A. Salary is confidential. B should not even ask for more since B is ok for $+$500 sure won't get at $+$500+$500. While budget is important but exception can be made if finding the right fit.
Tell B up to her/him. Any consequences B will hv to bear not A.
For sure A must quickly go in. Then when kick out FT, hv vacancy, bring B in. Tats how FTs kick experienced sinkie out once they get in.
