Title: How did hawker centres becoming hawkers own centre?
Post by: Suntan on Oct 12, 2024, 09:26 AM
When the people running the hawker centre starting to set rules & regulations on public spaces, we are seeing treating public spaces as if they own it, not own by the people of this land.

No idea. However, even if NEA is now pushing their job & responsibility to the profit making companies,
public space is a public space. The hawkers only rented their stall space. Rest of the spaces in hawker centres
belong to people. Can eat and drink what they want. After paid by tax payer to NEA to manage the hawker centres to give back to the people.

Can bring and drink and use the space. If hawker food prices and drinks are expensive, they have to reflect. If rental charges by these outsourced companies, they have to reflect on their profiteering....and so on, isnt it? Not tell ppl to buzz off if they are not buying food and drinks from the stalls. Not for them to carve into their territory. Look at all the religious alters sprouting out, is it fair to other religions?

Liddat means it's like a privately owned restaurant where outside food is not allowed. Socializing costs, privatizing profits.
