Title: Is Changi Village hawker centre overrated?
Post by: Keeptrucking on Oct 07, 2024, 11:17 AM
Tried all the nasi lemak stalls not once but several times. Rice is not fragrant, chicken wing is not well marinated or fried. Only the chilli is decent.

There is one decent western food stall.

Hokkien mee is average.

Those bbq chicken wings there are normal too.

The only draw for me is the laidback nature of the place which I like a lot and find very unique and relaxing.

What is good there?

wah so lucky get such a vocation.

yeah changi village hawker a little overrated, esp if one has to travel all the way there.

it is the tranquility of the place and the changi boardwalk that make up for it.

No memorable food there. The nearby beach and ubin is more attractive.

oh i know where. that one where it ends at a rocky cliffside?

must walk back into the chalets and then hook out again.

that said, Changi feels eerie at night.

I think it is because of a lack of tall buildings with lights and the abundance of big trees and old buildings.

But it has a nice charm to it.

Go there for the vibe not for the food. Nasi Lemak is not bad and yes it is overhyped.
Used to like the Ice Jelly Dessert stall. Now not so sure still nice.

The only one I like was the Ikan Penyat but now they have another stall in bedok and sell Ayam Penyat only.
The ikan was huge at $6.50 last time and give me a reason to go there.
Now Will only go Changi Village if I am nearby doing some errands.
