I know it is still legal tender but it seems many places do not accept it so it's like not legal tender also
No issue for me so far. But in the first place, I rarely received or need to use 5c coins......
1 cent is also still legal tender too just that MAS no longer mint them
Bought a packet of bee hoon. Gave them two 5 cents also don't want to accept. Really ccb.

Learned something new today
ya it's still legal tender...
unless MAS removes it from circulation
usually what they will do is stop minting........ not sure they stopped liao or not. then slowly remove from circulation. maybe that's their plan
Quote from: Philipkee on Sep 14, 2024, 10:29 AMI know it is still legal tender but it seems many places do not accept it so it's like not legal tender also
They usu say can use no more than 2 pcs or one etc
If they do that n state on cashier visible prominent place it s accepted I heard
take for example, the $1 note and the $20 note. they just remove it slowly until they feel not many people use and not many in circulation
but banks all these still have to accept it for time being
I just use in ntuc

think $20 not too popular. estimated 80m pieces printed.
as for the $1 note, right up till 1987 they were still issuing and printing new ones. after that no more le.
It's a good idea to keep some on hand when the price includes 5 cents.
