Title: Comparison of Thailand and Malaysian durians
Post by: FireOpal on Sep 01, 2024, 11:11 PM
Tourists often visit Malaysia for the unique experience of tasting durian. A quick comparison of Thailand and Malaysian durians:

1. Harvesting Methods:
   - 🇹🇭 Thai Durians: Harvested directly from the tree before they are fully ripe (75-85% maturity). This method gives them a firmer, crunchier texture. 🥭🔪
   - 🇲🇾 Malaysian Durians: Left to ripen naturally on the tree until they fall. This allows a natural fermentation process, resulting in a richer, stronger flavour. 🌳🍂

2. Taste and Texture:
   - 🇹🇭 Thai Durians: Known for their milder aroma, sweet flavour, and firm, crunchy texture. Perfect for those who like a less intense durian experience. 🍬🍏
   - 🇲🇾 Malaysian Durians: Especially the famous Musang King (Mao Shan Wang), are prized for their creamy, custard-like flesh and complex bitter-sweet taste. Ideal for durian enthusiasts who crave bold flavours! 🍮🌰

3. Aroma:
   - 🇹🇭 Thai Durians: Generally have a milder smell, making them more approachable for those new to durians. 🌸
   - 🇲🇾 Malaysian Durians: Often have a stronger, more distinctive aroma, which durian lovers describe as the "true" durian experience. 🌼🔥

4. Market and Export:
   - 🇹🇭 Thailand: The largest exporter of durians globally, making up about 95% of the market. Large-scale production is geared towards international consumers. 🌍📦
   - 🇲🇾 Malaysia: Focuses on high-quality varieties, like Musang King 🦊👑, which are considered premium and sold at higher prices. 🍾💎
