Who the fug gave the go ahead for this tagline one ah?
https://www.yellowribbon.gov.sg/our-movement
The phrase "Don't just support Yellow Ribbon, be one" seems to play on words to encourage deeper involvement with the Yellow Ribbon Project, which aims to give ex-convicts a second chance. However, as you've pointed out, "be one" could be interpreted as suggesting you should be an ex-convict, which is not the intended meaning.
A more appropriate interpretation is that it encourages people to embody the values of the Yellow Ribbon Project—such as forgiveness, acceptance, and providing second chances—rather than just supporting it passively.
To avoid confusion, it might be clearer to say something like:
"Don't just support Yellow Ribbon; embody its values."
This more clearly communicates the idea of taking action and embracing the project's mission without implying that one should become an ex-convict.
even chatgpt can do better
more n more ppl idolizing criminals in sg while shaming honest law-abiding ppl
besides, why give them a 2nd chance ? do they deserve it ? why sound it like as if must go to jail first then can get 2nd chance ? demand ppl to give criminals a 2nd chance then why law-abiding ppl who make mistakes at work or school dont get 2nd chances but instead being condemned for the rest of their tenure in school or company ?
Encouraging ppl to commit crime ijjit :frus:
A supposed reformed criminal, druggie semenboy who indirectly got his daughter killed (coz he wasnt ard to protect her) and made his parents sad and has no good formal education, results, dont have any marketable skills
is more respectable than a phv driver or delivery driver or ugly fat short bbfa who makes a decent living slaving their lives away.

Yes I agree with you to an extent. Ex cons should be given a second chance BUT you cannot tell me don't be wary of them or die die must hire them. Cos you never know.
I heard before. Why people are leery of hiring ex cons? Cos if let's say I am the hiring manager and I really want to support the yellow ribbon project and hire an ex con, let's say the ex con commits a crime while on the job and gets fired, what happens to me? I get fired as well for hiring an ex con
It is very weird to on one hand insist people do their due diligence before hiring someone and then also encourage people to hire people with known criminal offenses.
But I heard from a friend. It depends on the crime. He can hire ex murderers but never ex loan sharks. Cos murderers might be in a heat of passion but ex loan sharks will always be a danger to the company.
Encouraging ppl to break the law and become criminals themself first??

I think depends on job
If we say we meritocracy it means we give them some additional footing to help them lever up their skills as others in e same capacity job so example I won't mind ex murderer or ex robber be e simlim or challenger shop keeper
or ntuc store ppl
but if they come n be food delivery guy I will feel a bit scared
If ex rapist be grab driver or ex arsonist come sell pmd I ll also scared to be honest

Not sure how relevant to all jobs but in nursing, I like to say there are two types of mistakes you can learn from
The one where you can learn from
The one where you cannot learn from
Can learn from - maybe a medication error where family nag at you, you write report etc etc and you learn
Cannot learn from - maybe a medication error where a healthy patient dies. You lose your job and licence and that's it. Maybe when jail if it's criminal negligence. Nothing to learn from. Career and life gone
Maybe in private sector two kind of mistakes
The one where company loses money - can learn from it
the one where company loses all the money and winds up - that's it
So we can let new hires learn and make mistakes but if the first mistake is fatal, that's it also
