Yo, after few days of observation...
As much as i would love to see this forum evolve into a real alternative to that toxic forum, i think its very difficult. Still possible, but will probably take a very very long time, provided this place can survive that long.
Ts is spot on, what he mentioned is indeed one of the problems, one big obstacle this forum is facing. And its almost impossible to eliminate cos its a choice, people's freedom to go where they want, we cant stop them.
Not targetting anyone, just saying nia. Look at the number of existing forummers here who are still visiting that forum for content, sagas, etc
Here is no more than a refugee camp for some, cum here kpkb after ban period over they go back. Forum need content, need traffic, instead of creating content & discussions here, some are probably still refreshing browser in that forum.

U look at another splinter forum Mugentech, mainly ex edmwers, posting style quite close to here. It existed for quite a number of years now, but why still a ghost town forum? Similar problem i guess.

Agree with chiu on refugee camp because edmw is the main audience of splinter forums. This is is probably the reason the mods over there removed any mention of this forum

Dont care them, just post. Got ppl go in reply / comment, the threads move, the forum will be active. Initial stage is like that one

it takes a lot of effort tbh and a lot of money
u cannot just rely on a forum to survive.. u need a direction and people. u need a focus.
like flowerpod, or motherhood or what parenthood. or hwz or whichever whatever for that matter
if u put it like hwz just talk about IT, it's just deemed as a copy and u need to poach all the tech people over and they will have a lot to say about what features they want
if u all analyze thoroughly u will know why and what i said
edmw.sg was doomed to fail in the first place, there was no focus, but they were able to get maybe 200-300 people over (not all active), but probably 5x-10x more active people than here.
they survived like what, 1-2+ yrs? they also got more people maintaining the forums and more tech expertise and money and even so they failed because there's no direction - like money, women stuff, parents stuff, schools stuff, salary stuff, or even like sammyboy the sex stuff
if u get my drift, it means u want to attract sponsors - women then u can talk about women's health, their BGR problems, make up, spa, cosmetics.
parenthood, talk about kids toys, maternity and all the shit that comes with it
hwz - tech
salary.sg - rather similar but talk mainly about careers, jobs and money
edmw.sg is like a jack of all trades. im not badmouthing them but it was the predecessor of this place, where rebels and people leave en-masse to fight the tyranny in hwz. u go there to kaopeh about hwz and the mods and admins and govt but what's your focus and what drives income?
but what's the focus? u sell the tshirt how many people buy and how many people actually wear them out?
u need a focus somehow. u cannot simply just go create a edmw.sg and expect it to thrive. im not saying it's impossible but how do u market to sponsors over the long run? unless ur father is peter lim then u just run this for fun u can have say 1m or more to slowly burn
here i suppose on a say, weekly basis we got about 30 max - people who actually reply or actually read? or even less active users while edmw.sg easily probably got 100 or more on a day to day basis.
that in itself is a super big difference already
and i said i nv market out to the businesses yet. there's a lot to do but im already losing steam so are you all
