I turned 28 a few months ago and have been jobless for the last 14 months. I completed a part-time degree over 4 years, funded by bursaries. After graduation, I faced unemployment until I found a job, but I was laid off after 8 months. Since then, I haven't been very productive. My habits and dependencies have worsened, and I've mostly been in a passive state, using my savings to get by. A friend lent me some money, but I don't want to borrow more.
I'm very disappointed in myself; my health has declined, and job opportunities seem scarce despite occasional interviews and calls from recruiters offering various positions that never materialize. This has left me feeling disheartened, and my parents are understandably frustrated with my situation. I've withdrawn socially and feel uncomfortable talking about my circumstances with others. I desperately want to break free from this cycle.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation and can offer advice? In short, I'm a 28-year-old with a part-time degree from a local university, unemployed for 14 months and struggling to find work.

I saw that thread too.
I was jodless for over half a year too 10 yrs ago I knew exactly how it felt. Our Sg jod-seeking landscape can be brutal one, esp if you go seek jod w/o a jod.
That's huai after that jodless experience 10 yrs ago I told myself I must not be held ransom by a jod. I must be able to survive w/o worrying about having no jod/tio laid off...

Thread starter will be angry.
If they give the breakdown of PR (Employment passes, S Passes) & FT PMETs, the unemployed will know how many office admin jobs went to foreigners & not sinkies in similar job & the minimum salary they get.
Sinkies deserve the gov they voted for. :s12:

It's not. Hiring people not sinkies. HR not sinkies. Wat r the odds getting an interview & get selected? It's a problem if sinkies can't get job in homeground. Moi got good fit in the roles & responsibility & the Ang mo hiring can even say I need to use sales & mkting (he switch from sales & market & not even relevant in mfg as he was a banker) even though the job is not in sales nor marketing. Tis is the real FT running the dept & not of same industry. :frown: :frown: :frown:

I am happy and satisfied that at least 5.5% of employment growth went to "locals".
