For MY generation, my parents went through the Malayan Emergency and independence. Bear in mind in 1965, no one knew how Singapore would turn out. We are looking only in hindsight and commenting on their success but forgetting the risk they took.

Recently i saw this thread on the other side. The TS was just airing his grievances as a caregiver for his elderly parent. End up tio bash jialat jialat by the entitled boomers simi provided chiu food and place to stay and wipe chiur pigu when chiu are an infant so chiu should "tank moi nonsense" as moi child because filial piety. Knn these merdeka gen really push caregiving expectations to the next level. Even the pioneer gen parents mostly don't do such a thing.

Sadly to say, some caregivers sure admit themselves into imh or commit suicide if they have no avenue to air their grievances.
